If you have lost a WAEC certificate, ask WAEC about the official attestation or confirmation route. Do not buy a recreated certificate from a printer or online agent.
WAEC’s published FAQ says it does not replace lost certificates in the ordinary sense and describes alternative result documents and confirmation services. The document your university or employer accepts should determine the service you request.
Ask the receiving organisation first
Send a short question: “My original certificate is lost. Will you accept a WAEC attestation document, direct result confirmation, or another specific official record?” Ask whether the document must be sent directly to the organisation.
Save the response. Paying for a genuine document that the receiver did not request can still leave your application incomplete.
Prepare a reliable identity trail
Gather your examination year, number, examination type, school or centre details and any existing result copy. Ask WAEC for its current requirements and approved payment process for the service you need. Do not use an old fee quoted in a social-media post as a current invoice.
If supporting documents are required, obtain them through the proper offices. Keep originals secure and submit only the copies or uploads requested.
After making the application
Record the reference, payment receipt, expected delivery method and recipient address. Follow up using that reference. If the receiver has a deadline, tell it you have applied and ask what evidence it can temporarily accept; an application receipt is not automatically a substitute for the required result document.
Can an online result printout replace the certificate?
Only the receiving organisation can confirm what it will accept. A printout and a certificate-related official service are different documents.
Should I report the loss publicly with all my details?
Share only what a legitimate process requires. Keep your candidate number and identity documents out of casual public posts.
