GPFA Opens Fully Funded Scholarship for 2025/2026 Academic Year

The Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa (GPFA) has opened applications for its fully funded scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic session, offering comprehensive education support to eligible students. The programme prioritises university and TVET students and is open to applicants across Africa and beyond, including Nigerians.
Application deadline: 8 January 2026.

The scholarship is part of GPFA’s wider education mission to expand access to quality learning for underprivileged girls, youth, and children, including those with special needs.

What the GPFA Scholarship Covers

GPFA describes the award as a “360-degree” fully supported scholarship, designed to remove financial barriers so beneficiaries can focus on academics, leadership, and personal growth. Support may include:

  • Full tuition
  • Semester allowance
  • Internship opportunities
  • Accommodation support for boarding students

The exact package depends on the applicant’s category and study arrangement.

Who Can Apply (Priority Categories)

While GPFA recognises four categories—TVET students, high school graduates, local university students, and international students—the foundation confirms that this intake prioritises only:

  • University students
  • TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) students

General Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Secure admission into an eligible institution in Liberia before applying
  • Meet academic and documentation requirements for their category
  • Demonstrate strong character, motivation, leadership potential, and community involvement

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Required Documents by Category

University Students

  • 600-word motivational essay
  • Previous semester grade sheet (minimum GPA: 3.5)
  • Two recommendation letters (Head of Department and a community/religious leader)

TVET Students

  • Admission letter from a recognised TVET institution
  • Two recommendation letters (school and community/religious leaders)
  • Motivational essay

GPFA notes that all applicants must already hold admission in Liberia at the time of application.

Nationality and Location

The scholarship is not restricted by nationality. Nigerians and other international applicants are eligible, provided they meet all requirements and have secured admission into an eligible institution in Liberia.

Selection is based on:

  • Academic merit
  • Motivation and leadership qualities
