To retrieve a school-fee receipt, start with your official student account and payment history. Do not pay the fee again simply because the original printout is missing.
Find the transaction trail
Check the payment section for the correct session and fee type. Look for a receipt download, payment-history entry or invoice reference. Also search your email for the acknowledgement sent at the time of payment.
If a gateway was involved, retain its reference alongside the school’s invoice. A bank debit can help trace the transaction, but it may not be the receipt required for clearance.
Ask the bursary for an authorised copy
Provide your student number, fee description, session, approximate payment date and available references. Explain whether the portal recognises the payment but the download is unavailable, or whether the payment itself is missing.
Suggested request: “My ledger confirms [fee/session], but I cannot retrieve the receipt. The invoice/reference is [reference]. Please advise the official reprint or verification process.”
Check the recovered document
- Correct student and session.
- Correct fee description and amount.
- Traceable reference and issuer.
- Readable payment status.
- Any verification detail required by the school.
Keep a secure digital copy and a separate backup. Name it clearly so a later clearance exercise does not require another search through a phone gallery.
Can I recreate the receipt in a document editor?
No. Request the official copy or payment confirmation. An invented receipt can turn a simple retrieval problem into a serious records issue.
What if the old portal is no longer available?
Contact the bursary or records office with the transaction evidence and ask how archived payments are verified.
Should I share the full bank statement?
Provide only what the official process requires. A focused transaction record usually explains the payment more clearly than pages of unrelated financial activity.
