We’re in August 2026 — which means Post UTME season is either live or about to be at most Nigerian universities. Some schools have already started; others are just opening registration. This page tracks current status across major universities so you know exactly where things stand.
What Is Post UTME Screening?
Post UTME is the secondary screening exercise universities use to rank and select candidates after the UTME. Some schools run a full Computer-Based Test (CBT) covering your subject areas. Others do a direct O’Level screening — they simply verify your grades and rank you based on your combined JAMB score and O’Level performance. Knowing which format your target school uses is step one of preparation.
Post UTME Status: Federal Universities (August 2026)
University of Lagos (UNILAG): Post UTME registration typically opens July–August. Screening runs August–September 2026. Check the UNILAG admissions portal at admissions.unilag.edu.ng for current registration status.
University of Ibadan (UI): UI’s Post UTME screening is typically conducted in August. Check admissions.ui.edu.ng — UI sometimes opens and closes registration windows quickly.

How to Register for Post UTME Right Now
Each university has its own registration portal — there’s no single national Post UTME registration system. The process is typically: visit the university’s official website → find the Admissions or Post UTME section → create an account with your JAMB registration number → pay the screening fee → upload your documents or book a screening date.
The fee varies by institution but typically ranges from ₦2,000 to ₦5,000. Only pay through the official portal — any third-party agent claiming to process your registration for a fee is likely a scam.
What to Bring on Post UTME Day
Regardless of which school you’re writing at, you’ll generally need: your JAMB registration slip, your original O’Level result (or a certified true copy), your Post UTME registration slip, a valid ID, and recent passport photographs. Don’t assume a photocopy of your result is sufficient — bring the original. Candidates turned away at the gate for missing documents rarely get a second chance.
What Happens After Post UTME?
Results are typically published on the university portal within 1–4 weeks of the exercise. Your Post UTME score is then combined with your JAMB score (and sometimes an O’Level points calculation) to produce a merit ranking. Candidates who rank high enough for their department receive provisional admission offers on JAMB CAPS. Keep checking both the university portal and JAMB CAPS regularly from September through December.
