JAMB admission in progress means you should keep checking the admission process; it is not the same as an accepted offer. Avoid paying an agent to change the message. Your next move is to check the records that could be holding up the decision.
Start with three checks
- Confirm that your O’Level subjects and grades appear correctly on CAPS.
- Open Transfer Approval and check whether the institution has proposed another course.
- Ask your school’s admissions office whether your recommendation has reached JAMB.
JAMB’s support guidance identifies these as practical checks when a school has shortlisted a candidate but CAPS has not yet shown an admission offer. Completing a check does not guarantee admission; the school and JAMB still have their respective roles.
Keep a useful follow-up record
Write down the date you first saw the message, your chosen course, the last result-upload confirmation and any response from the school. A short record is more useful than dozens of screenshots with no dates.
For example: “My school portal lists me for Biology. CAPS has shown admission in progress since [date]. My five required credits appear correctly and no transfer request is pending. Please confirm whether my recommendation has been submitted.” Send identifying details privately through an official channel.
What if nothing changes?
Check the institution’s current admission notices for its actual closing dates. There is no safe universal promise that this status changes within 24 hours, seven days or any other fixed period. If a published deadline is close, contact admissions and open a JAMB ticket with the evidence already gathered.
Should I keep refreshing the page?
Repeated refreshes will not move an application through approval. Check at sensible intervals and spend the rest of the time completing school requirements.
Can I pay an acceptance fee now?
Follow your institution’s written instructions and verify the offer first. Do not treat this CAPS message alone as proof of a final admission.
