If a course is missing from your registration portal, confirm that it belongs in your approved registration before treating the absence as a technical error. The cause could be a programme setup issue, a prerequisite restriction or the wrong semester view.
Check the academic details
Compare the course code with the current departmental list. Check the session, semester, level and programme selected in your account. If the course is a carryover or elective, ask the adviser whether it is approved for you this semester.
Do not select a course with a similar title unless the department confirms it is the correct equivalent. Codes and units matter to the academic record.
Send a focused request
Include the course code, title, units, intended semester and your programme. Explain whether the option is absent, greyed out or rejected after selection. Attach a screenshot and the relevant approval through an official private channel.
Suggested message: “My approved registration includes [course/code], but the portal [exact behaviour]. I have checked [session/semester]. Please confirm whether this requires departmental approval or a portal correction.”
Follow the correction through
Record the case reference and ask when to recheck. After the option appears, verify the complete form rather than only the one course. Save the final submitted and approved version.
If the deadline is near, notify both the adviser and the responsible support office. Ask for written instructions on how to preserve the issue for an authorised correction.
Should I register a substitute temporarily?
Only with explicit academic approval. A convenient substitute can create an unintended elective or leave a compulsory requirement unmet.
Does attending lectures solve the registration issue?
Attendance and formal registration are separate questions. Continue following academic advice, but resolve the record through the approved process.
What evidence should I retain?
The approved list, dated portal error, support acknowledgement and corrected form. Together they show the problem and how it was resolved.
