Use your university’s official password-recovery route if you cannot sign in. Do not send your password or one-time code to someone offering to unlock the account through a private chat.
Confirm the correct portal
Start from the institution’s main website and follow its student-portal link. Check that you are using the right account type and identifier, such as an application number or matriculation number.
Before resetting, rule out a mistyped identifier, accidental spaces or the wrong keyboard case. Avoid repeated guesses if the portal warns about a lockout.
Use the official reset process
Request recovery through the displayed option and check your registered email, including its spam folder. Follow the current instructions and use the most recent valid message if several were requested.
If you cannot access the registered email or phone, contact the official ICT helpdesk. Ask what identity checks are required to update the recovery record. Do not create another student account as an informal workaround.
After access is restored
- Check that your contact details are correct.
- Use a unique password and store it securely.
- Enable any supported extra sign-in protection.
- Sign out of shared devices.
- Review unexpected changes to the account.
If you suspect someone changed registration or payment information, report the specific changes to the institution promptly. Keep the relevant screenshots and support reference.
Should I click a reset link from a student group?
Open the official portal yourself. A copied message can contain an imitation sign-in page.
What if the reset message never arrives?
Check the identifier and email account, then contact support with the time requested and exact behaviour. Keep authentication codes private.
Can a cafe save the password for convenience?
Avoid saving personal student credentials on a shared computer. Check the session is signed out before leaving.
