UNILAG Admission Requirements 2026/2027

The University of Lagos is one of the most competitive universities in Nigeria — and for good reason. Strong industry connections in Lagos, a diverse programme offering, and a location in Nigeria’s commercial capital make it a top target for thousands of candidates every year. Getting in requires more than just a decent JAMB score. Here’s what you actually need.

O’Level Requirements for UNILAG

UNILAG requires five credit passes in relevant O’Level subjects at not more than two sittings. English Language is compulsory across all courses. Beyond English, the specific subjects you need depend on your intended faculty and course — and UNILAG enforces these requirements strictly. A credit in a subject that doesn’t align with your course won’t count as a qualifying credit.

UNILAG JAMB Cutoff Score 2026

UNILAG’s general JAMB cutoff is 200 — but that’s the minimum to be screened, not the score that gets you in. In practice, the effective admission scores for most UNILAG programmes are significantly higher. Realistic benchmarks based on recent admission cycles:

UNILAG Post-UTME

UNILAG’s Post-UTME is a CBT screening conducted on campus at Akoka. It covers English Language plus subjects in your faculty area. Registration is through admissions.unilag.edu.ng — if it’s August 2026 and you haven’t registered yet, check the portal immediately as the window may be open. The Post-UTME score combines with your JAMB score at roughly 40:60 weighting to produce your admission aggregate.

Direct Entry at UNILAG

UNILAG accepts Direct Entry candidates with A’Level passes (at least two in relevant subjects), OND at Upper Credit, or first degree for certain postgraduate-adjacent programmes. All DE candidates must still meet O’Level credit requirements. Apply through JAMB’s DE portal and then complete UNILAG’s screening process.

Applying to UNILAG

All admissions go through JAMB CAPS. After UTME, choose UNILAG as first or second choice. If you meet the departmental cutoff, you’ll be invited for Post-UTME via admissions.unilag.edu.ng. After screening, check CAPS regularly — admission offers appear there. Accept promptly; UNILAG has reissued unaccepted offers in past cycles. Follow with on-campus clearance bringing original documents, medical fitness certificate, and acceptance fee payment.

A Realistic View of UNILAG Admission

UNILAG is worth targeting if your JAMB score is genuinely competitive. If you scored below 220, your realistic UNILAG options are limited to less competitive programmes in Education or Arts. If you scored 250+, you’re in the running for most programmes. If you scored 280+, you have a real shot at the big three — Medicine, Law, and Pharmacy. Go in with eyes open about where your score lands in the competition, and your application strategy will be much sharper.
