UNIABUJA Announce New Acting Vice-Chancellor: Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi has been elected as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) following the Tenure of Professor Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah’s term. Her appointment is a testament to her outstanding academic background, professional achievements, and dedication to the field of education. Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, a highly respected expert in the field of International Law, has been unanimously elected to serve as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) in the wake of the tenure of Professor Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah’s term on June 30, 2024. The University Senate made the decision, intended to be in effect until the University Council is inaugurated and a new Vice-Chancellor is appointed.

Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi Biography

Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi was born on January 31, 1983, in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. Her academic journey commenced with completing her West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). She then pursued higher education at the prestigious University of Reading and the London School of Economics in the United Kingdom. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Reading and subsequently earned her Master of Laws (LLM) degree at the London School of Economics.

Continuing her academic pursuits, Professor Aisha Maikudi attended the Nigeria Law School in Abuja, where she honed her legal skills. Undeterred by the challenges of rigorous academic pursuits, she went on to accomplish the highest academic honour in the field of Law by obtaining her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from the esteemed University of Abuja.

Early Career

In 2007, Aisha participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Corporate Secretariat and Legal Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Her academic career at the University of Abuja began 2008 as a Lecturer. She quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the first female and youngest Head of the Faculty of Law in 2014, the first female and youngest Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law in 2018, and the pioneer Director at the University of Abuja.

Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi’s remarkable achievements have solidified her reputation as an exceptional legal scholar and educator. Notably, she holds the distinction of being the youngest professor at the prestigious University of Abuja. She is revered as the first female law professor in the North West region.
