About BUK

BUK was established in 1977, evolving from Abdullahi Bayero College which had been affiliated with Ahmadu Bello University. Located in Kano State, one of Nigeria’s most commercially and historically significant cities, BUK serves a large catchment area spanning the North-West and North-Central zones. The university has two main campuses in Kano and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. O’Level Requirements for BUK

BUK requires five credit passes in WAEC, NECO, or GCE O’Level obtained at not more than two sittings. English Language is compulsory across all programmes except a few Arabic and Islamic Studies programmes where it may be replaced with Arabic Language. Mathematics is required for sciences, engineering, management sciences, and most social science programmes.

Pharmacy: 220–250
Dentistry: 230–260
Law: 210–240
Nursing: 190–220

Economics / Accounting / Finance / Business Admin: 180–210
Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics): 180–205
Education programmes: 180–200
Agriculture: 180–200
Islamic Studies / Arabic: 180–200

JAMB Subject Combinations for BUK

Medicine / Dentistry: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
Pharmacy / Nursing: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.
Law: Literature-in-English or Government, one other arts/social science subject, one more arts or social science.
Engineering (all disciplines): Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
Computer Science / IT: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or one other science.
Accounting / Economics / Business Admin: Mathematics, Economics, one other commerce or social science.
Islamic Studies: Arabic, Islamic Studies or CRS, one other arts subject.
Agriculture: Biology, Chemistry, one of Physics/Mathematics/Agricultural Science.

O’Level Requirements by Faculty

Medicine / Dentistry: English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
Pharmacy / Nursing: English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
Law: English, Literature-in-English or Government, Economics, and two other relevant arts/social science subjects.
Engineering: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, one other science or technical subject.
Computer Science: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, one other science.
Accounting / Economics: English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce or Accounting, one other.
Islamic Studies / Arabic: Arabic, Islamic Studies or CRS, English or equivalent, two others.

BUK Post-UTME Screening

BUK conducts a Post-UTME screening (CBT) for eligible candidates. Registration and screening details are published on buk.edu.ng β€” monitor the site from August onward. Your JAMB score and Post-UTME score are combined into an aggregate for final admission ranking. Ensure your O’Level results are uploaded and your JAMB details are correctly entered during registration.

Direct Entry at BUK

BUK accepts DE candidates with A’Level results (two passes in relevant subjects), ND Lower Credit, or HND. O’Level requirements apply in full. Apply through JAMB’s DE portal and register for BUK’s screening separately.
