UNILORIN Secures Full NUC Accreditation for All 21 Programmes

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for all 21 academic programmes recently assessed. This marks another major achievement for the institution in its pursuit of quality education.

The NUC team visited UNILORIN in October and November 2023 for the accreditation exercise. The assessment covered a wide range of departments in science, arts, social sciences, education, and engineering.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNILORIN, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), shared the good news during a recent Senate meeting. He thanked all staff and departments for their efforts and commitment during the accreditation process. He also praised the university community for working together to achieve this positive result.

The following programmes received full accreditation:

  • Statistics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Public Administration
  • Criminology and Security Studies
  • Psychology
  • Political Science
  • Social Work
  • History and International Studies
  • Islamic Studies
  • Christian Studies
  • Physics Education
  • Chemistry Education
  • Yoruba Education
  • Early Childhood Education

Full accreditation means that these programmes meet the national standard and will continue to run without interruption.

Professor Egbewole said the achievement is proof of UNILORIN’s dedication to academic excellence. He also promised that the school will not rest on its success but will continue to improve teaching, research, and student support.

Students and parents can now be confident that the affected courses are fully approved and meet the required quality set by the NUC.
