UNILORIN Postgraduate Admission Form 2025/2026 – Apply Now for Master’s and Ph.D. Programmes

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) invites applications from qualified candidates for admission into its postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session. The session begins on October 2, 2025, and ends on September 30, 2026. Both Nigerian and international applicants are welcome.

Available Postgraduate Programmes

1. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

  • For those with a Master’s degree (M.A., M.Sc., M.Ed., M.Eng., LL.M, M.P.H)
  • Must have at least 60% score or a 4.0 CGPA on a 5-point scale
  • Full-time duration: 36–60 months | Part-time: 48–72 months
  • Requires coursework and thesis

2. M.Phil./Ph.D. (Conversion Route)

  • For Master’s holders with 55%–59.99% or CGPA 3.5–3.99
  • Duration: 12–24 months
  • Candidates can transfer to Ph.D. after scoring 60% in the first year

3. Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)

  • For Master’s holders with 50%–54.99% or CGPA 3.0–3.49
  • Duration: 18–24 months
  • Requires coursework and a research project

4. Master’s Degree Programmes (M.A., M.Ed., M.Eng., M.Sc., LL.M, M.P.H)

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower
  • Full-time: 18–24 months | Part-time: 36–48 months

5. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

  • For Bachelor’s degree holders with Third Class
  • Duration: 12–24 months

General Admission Requirements

  • Must have at least five O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics
  • Must have completed NYSC or have an exemption certificate by September 30, 2025
  • Transcripts must be sent directly to the Head of Department of the intended programme
  • Foreign candidates must show proof of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or similar)

Fill out the online application form correctly

  1. Upload scanned copies of relevant certificates and documents
  2. Pay the non-refundable application fee:
    • ₦25,000 for Nigerians
    • $200 for international applicants
  3. Submit your form online
  4. Print your completed application and send it with other required documents to:

  5. Transcripts must be sent directly to the appropriate department

Additional Guidelines

  • Only advertised courses for the session are open for application
  • Incorrect entries will lead to disqualification
  • Programme duration cannot be extended beyond the set maximum, except by formal request (up to two 12-month extensions)
