1. JAMB 2026 Results Are Out: How to Check Your Score
The 2026 JAMB UTME results were released in late April 2026, following the examination window that ran from April 22–29. Over 1.9 million candidates are now scrambling to check their scores — and many are using unofficial websites that mimic JAMB’s portal. The only safe way to check your result is through JAMB’s own efacility.jamb.gov.ng portal, or by sending UTMERESULT via SMS to 55019 from your registered SIM card.
Quick Facts: JAMB Result 2026
Method | Portal / Number | Cost | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
Online Portal | efacility.jamb.gov.ng | Free to view | 24/7 |
SMS | Send UTMERESULT to 55019 | ~₦50 airtime | 24/7 (slight delay possible) |
Official Result Slip Print | slipsprinting.jamb.gov.ng | ₦1,500 | After results published |
The national minimum cut-off for 2026 is 160, but competitive courses at top federal universities require 250–280+. A score of 200 and above puts you ahead of the majority of candidates. The full guide walks through every common problem — wrong format errors, SMS delays, result remark procedures and what to do if your score seems unexpectedly low. Read the full JAMB result guide →
2. OAU Post-UTME 2026: What Candidates Need to Know
Obafemi Awolowo University’s Post-UTME screening is one of Nigeria’s most selective supplementary examinations, with over 40,000 applicants competing for around 8,000 places annually. The OAU Post-UTME for 2026/2027 admission is expected to open for registration in July 2026, following the JAMB merit list. Candidates must have scored a minimum of 200 in JAMB and must have chosen OAU as their first-choice institution.
OAU Post-UTME: Key Numbers
Detail | 2026 Figure |
|---|---|
JAMB Minimum | 200 (250+ recommended for Medicine/Law) |
Registration Fee | ₦2,000 |
Test Format | CBT — 80 questions in 60 minutes |
Aggregate Formula | (JAMB ÷ 8) + Post-UTME Score |
The key competitive insight for OAU: Post-UTME performance carries enormous weight in the aggregate formula. A candidate with a modest JAMB score of 250 who scores 80 in Post-UTME (aggregate = 31.25 + 80 = 111.25) easily outranks someone with JAMB 300 and Post-UTME 50 (aggregate = 37.5 + 50 = 87.5). This makes Post-UTME preparation the single highest-return investment for OAU candidates. Full OAU Post-UTME guide →
3. Best Universities for Mass Communication in Nigeria 2026
Mass communication is one of Nigeria’s most versatile degrees — and in 2026, the explosion of digital media and corporate communications has made it more employment-friendly than ever. The key quality marker is NUC accreditation. Covenant University tops this year’s rankings, followed by UNILAG and UNN. Here is a quick snapshot of the top five:
Rank | University | Standout Feature | JAMB Cut-off |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | Covenant University | NUC ranked best 2020; industry partnerships with Channels TV, Guardian | 200 |
2 | UNILAG | Lagos media ecosystem access; strong journalism alumni | 200 |
3 | UNN | Nigeria’s first mass comm dept (1961); strong research base | 200 |
4 | UNILORIN | Well-accredited; strong public broadcasting alumni network | 200 |
5 | ABU Zaria | Dominant in Northern Nigeria; NUC-accredited | 200 |
Candidates interested in PR, advertising and corporate communications should strongly consider Covenant or Babcock (private) for their industry links. Those focused on journalism should look at UNILAG or UNN for their depth of media practice training. Full Mass Communication guide →
4. Best Universities for Architecture in Nigeria 2026
Architecture is a five-year, ARCON-regulated professional programme — and choosing a school without full ARCON accreditation has serious career consequences. Nigeria has over 20 ARCON-accredited schools, but only a handful consistently produce graduates who go on to lead private practices and shape the built environment at a national level.
Rank | University | Standout Feature | ARCON Status |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | OAU, Ile-Ife | Best design studio tradition in Nigeria; top alumni in private practice | Full |
2 | UNILAG | Lagos construction industry access; commercial real estate links | Full |
3 | ABU, Zaria | Sustainability & vernacular architecture research strength | Full |
4 | UNN | Strong South-East alumni network in practice | Full |
5 | Covenant University | Triple-accredited (NUC, ARCON, NIA); private sector quality | Full |
The architecture journey takes 8–9 years from matriculation to full ARCON registration (5-year degree + NYSC + 2-year pupillage + ARCON examination). Choosing the right school and starting to build digital design skills (AutoCAD, Revit) from year one will define your professional trajectory. Full Architecture guide →
5. UI Post-UTME 2026: University of Ibadan Screening Guide
The University of Ibadan is Nigeria’s oldest and most research-distinguished university, and its Post-UTME is among the most competitive in the country. UI’s 2026 Post-UTME registration is expected to open in mid-July 2026 at admissions.ui.edu.ng, with screening scheduled for late August 2026.
UI Post-UTME: Key Numbers
Detail | 2026 Figure |
|---|---|
JAMB Minimum (General) | 200 |
JAMB Minimum (Medicine) | 280+ |
Registration Fee | ₦5,000 (₦3,000 portal + ₦2,000 screening) |
Test Format | CBT — 100 questions in 75 minutes |
Aggregate Formula | (JAMB ÷ 8) + (Post-UTME ÷ 2) |
UI Medicine is among the hardest programmes in the country to gain admission to — even candidates with JAMB scores of 280+ can be denied if their Post-UTME performance is below par. The aggregate formula balances both scores, but at UI the Post-UTME contribution (up to 50 points from 100) is significant. Candidates targeting competitive departments should aim for Post-UTME scores of 65–75. Full UI Post-UTME guide →
Post-UTME Season 2026: Key Deadlines for Nigerian Candidates
Post-UTME season is one of the most time-sensitive periods in the Nigerian academic calendar. Missing a single deadline — whether for Post-UTME registration, CAPS acceptance or clearance documentation — can delay your admission by a full year. Below is a consolidated action calendar for 2026 UTME candidates:
Task | When | Portal |
|---|---|---|
Check JAMB result | Now — results are out | efacility.jamb.gov.ng |
Print JAMB result slip | Now (₦1,500) | slipsprinting.jamb.gov.ng |
Monitor JAMB CAPS | Ongoing from May 2026 | efacility.jamb.gov.ng |
OAU Post-UTME registration | Expected July 2026 | admissions.oauife.edu.ng |
UI Post-UTME registration | Expected mid-July 2026 | admissions.ui.edu.ng |
UNILAG Post-UTME registration | Expected June–July 2026 | unilag.edu.ng |
Accept CAPS offer (when made) | Within 48–72 hours of offer | efacility.jamb.gov.ng |
Many of these activities overlap and require your simultaneous attention. Set calendar reminders for June, July and August 2026 to check your university’s admissions portal at least twice weekly. Missing the Post-UTME registration window is one of the most common — and entirely avoidable — reasons candidates miss their preferred university.
Frequently Asked Questions — July 2026 University Roundup
Where is the official JAMB result checker for 2026?
The only official JAMB result portal is efacility.jamb.gov.ng. Candidates can also check via SMS by sending UTMERESULT to 55019 from their registered phone number. Do not use any third-party site — these are almost invariably scam portals designed to harvest login credentials or collect fraudulent payments. Print your official result slip at slipsprinting.jamb.gov.ng for ₦1,500.
Which Post-UTME is harder — OAU or UI?
Both are highly competitive, but the comparison depends on your course. For Medicine, UI’s process is generally considered marginally harder due to UI’s slightly higher JAMB cut-off expectations and the larger national prestige driving application numbers. For Law, both OAU and UI are closely matched. For Engineering, OAU’s larger engineering faculty makes it slightly more accessible by volume. Regardless of which you choose, serious Post-UTME preparation — using past questions, timed CBT practice and English revision — is essential for both.
Is mass communication or architecture a better career choice in Nigeria?
Both offer strong careers in 2026’s Nigerian economy. Mass communication offers broader entry-level employment and faster first-job placement, while architecture offers higher long-term earning potential and a clear professional licensing pathway. The right choice depends entirely on your aptitude and interests: if you love design, spatial thinking and the built environment, architecture is deeply rewarding. If you thrive on communication, storytelling and media, mass communication opens wide doors across traditional and digital industries.
How do I accept my JAMB CAPS admission offer?
Log in to efacility.jamb.gov.ng with your registered email and password. Navigate to your CAPS profile and look for the “Admission Status” section. When a university offers you admission, a button to “Accept” or “Reject” will appear. Click “Accept” and confirm. You must do this within 48–72 hours — admission offers that are not accepted within the window are automatically cancelled. After accepting, print the CAPS acceptance print-out for your clearance documentation.
Can I apply to both OAU and UI Post-UTME for the same admission year?
No — JAMB’s system allows only one first-choice institution per UTME registration. You can only register for the Post-UTME of the university you listed as your first choice. If you chose OAU, you apply to OAU Post-UTME only. If you chose UI, you apply to UI Post-UTME only. Applying to both is not possible through official channels for the same admission year.
