Frequently Asked Questions

Is Literature in English compulsory for Law in JAMB?

Yes — Literature in English is compulsory for Law at virtually all Nigerian universities and is required by the Council of Legal Education. Candidates who register without Literature in English are not eligible for Law admission. Always include Literature in English in your JAMB subject combination for Law.

What JAMB score do I need for Law at UNILAG or UI?

Realistically, you need 280 or above to compete at UNILAG or UI. The aggregate score (JAMB + Post-UTME) determines final admission — a strong Post-UTME can compensate for a slightly lower JAMB score, but scoring below 260 makes top law faculty admission very difficult.

Do I need a Mathematics credit for Law in Nigeria?

Most Nigerian law faculties do not specifically require a Mathematics credit — Law is an arts programme. However, having Mathematics credit gives you a stronger overall O’Level profile and satisfies any general five-credit requirements at your chosen university.

Conclusion: Use the Right JAMB Subjects and Start Your Law Journey in 2026

The JAMB subject combination for Law 2026 is English Language, Literature in English, Government, and one additional arts or social science subject. Paired with a JAMB score of 260+, this gives you a strong position to gain law faculty admission this year.
