Indian Government Scholarship for Nigerian Student

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi has announced that it accepts applications from Nigerian and other international students for a scholarship grant, as confirmed by the Federal Ministry of Education.

This scholarship opportunity presents a valuable chance for eligible students to pursue their education and academic aspirations in India’s culturally rich and diverse environment. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this promising opportunity.

This invitation is to all interested and qualified Nigerian individuals eager to pursue higher education in Indian Educational Institutes/Universities for the upcoming 2024/2025 academic year. This opportunity is possible through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) based in New Delhi. The available courses encompass a wide range of disciplines, including sciences, humanities, commerce, and engineering, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and PhD programs.

It’s important to note that this opportunity does not cover medical studies. Additionally, the age eligibility criteria for this program are 18-40 years for undergraduate and postgraduate studies and up to 50 years for PhD programs. This is a wonderful opportunity for Nigerian students to explore academic pursuits in India.

Scholarship Benefits

The benefits of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarships to Nigerian students who want to study in India include financial support for tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs. The scholarships cover various academic disciplines and allow Nigerian students to experience India’s rich cultural and educational heritage. The value of the scholarships is denoted in Indian currency.

Living allowance (Stipend) per month:

– Undergraduate: $5,500

– Postgraduate: $6,000

– M.Phil / Ph.D: $7,000

– Postdoctoral Fellow: $7,500

House Rent Allowance per month:

– Grade 1 cities: $5,000

– Other cities: $4,500

Contingent Grant per annum:

– Undergraduate: $5,000

– Postgraduate: $7,000

– M/Phil / Ph.D and M.Tech./ME: $12,500

– Postdoctoral studies: $15,500

– Tuition Fee/Other Compulsory Fee: As per actual (excluding refundable amount)

– Thesis and dissertation Expenses (Once in the entire duration of the course):

  – D Scholar: $10,000

  – BBA/BCA/MBA/MCA/M.Tech and other courses requiring the submission of a project: $7,000

Medical Benefits:

Under this scheme, scholars are expected to seek treatment only at the medical center or dispensary attached to the universities/institutes where they are enrolled or at the nearest government hospital. Bills are settled as permissible according to AMA/CGHS norms.

How to Apply Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) for Nigerian Students

You can complete the entire application process online through ICCR’s A2A Scholarship Portal to apply for the scholarship. If you are interested and meet the qualifications, you can visit http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in The deadline for this opportunity is 31st May 2024, as the classes are scheduled to commence in July 2024.

  1. Please ensure your educational certificates are verified and authenticated through the appropriate channels. This is an important step to affirm the validity and legitimacy of your educational qualifications.
  2. All mandatory documents are to be uploaded on the portal.
  3. While students between 18 and 30 years old at the time of admission were identified as eligible to apply, they were asked to apply to five universities in order of preference.
  4. To ensure English proficiency, all students must submit a 500-word essay in English. In addition to the essay, students may also provide their TOEFL, IELTS, or other standardized test scores if available. These documents help us assess students’ language skills and ensure they are prepared for academic success. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Please note that universities and institutions may require applicants to participate in an online interview as part of the admissions process. Short-listed students may also be required to attend a personal interview and verification process at the Indian High Commission.
