The University of Nigeria, also known as UNN, is a federal university in Nsukka, Enugu State, in the eastern region of Nigeria. Established in 1955 by Nnamdi Azikiwe and formally inaugurated on October 7, 1960, the University of Nigeria boasts three campuses in Enugu State – Nsukka, Enugu, and Ituku-Ozalla.

University of Nigeria (UNN) is ranked 11th in Nigeria and 1201 – 1500th in the World Best University according by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence.

This prestigious institution stands as Nigeria’s foremost fully-fledged indigenous and autonomous university, drawing inspiration from the American educational system. Furthermore, it takes pride in being the first land-grant university in Africa and is widely recognized as one of Nigeria’s top five universities. The university encompasses 17 Faculties and 102 academic departments and offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, including 108 undergraduate and 211 postgraduate programs.

The University of Nigeria (UNN) is a prominent educational institution with 102 academic departments within 15 faculties. It offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, including 82 undergraduate and 211 postgraduate programs. These programs cater to a diverse student population of over 36,000 individuals. The university is spread across four campuses: Nsukka, Enugu Campus (UNEC), the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in Ituku-Ozalla, and the University of Nigeria Aba campus (UNAC). The main campus of the University of Nigeria is situated on 871 hectares of hilly savannah in the town of Nsukka, approximately 80 kilometers north of Enugu. This location enjoys a delightful and healthy climate, providing an ideal environment for learning and growth. The campus also allocates 209 hectares of arable land for experimental agricultural farms and 207 hectares for staff housing development.
