A bank debit does not always mean the JAMB service has received a successful payment confirmation. If a transaction remains pending, check the same reference before starting a second payment.
Match the transaction details
Compare the service name, amount, payment date and reference on the portal with the bank transaction. If the gateway supplied an RRR or another reference, keep the full number. A bank alert alone may not identify which candidate service was paid for.
Reopen the transaction through the official profile or payment gateway. Use its status-check or query option if available. Do not follow a payment link sent by an unknown person claiming to “activate” the debit.
Keep a compact evidence pack
- A portal transaction-status screenshot with a date.
- The payment reference or RRR.
- A receipt, if one was issued.
- The bank debit details needed to trace the transaction.
- A note of whether a reversal has appeared.
Send that information through JAMB’s official support channel and your bank’s official dispute route when necessary. Keep full card numbers and authentication codes out of screenshots.
If a deadline is approaching
Tell the institution or office controlling that deadline that a payment is unresolved. Request written guidance about what evidence it will accept. Do not assume an automatic extension, and do not treat advice from a social-media comment as the school’s instruction.
If an official officer directs you to retry, ask how the first payment will be tracked and retain both references. That protects you from losing the history of a duplicate debit.
How long should I wait?
Use the payment provider’s stated processing period. There is no single waiting time that safely covers every bank, gateway and service.
Can a successful bank transfer receipt replace the JAMB document?
It proves a payment attempt, not completion of the candidate service. Confirm that the portal has recognised the payment and produced the correct document.
