What is JAMB Cut Off Mark

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the minimum JAMB cut off for admissions to 2025 Nigerian Tertiary institutions. These marks serve as base scores to be used for admission into universities, polytechnics as well as colleges of education across the country.

Policy Meeting: Who Decides the Cut Off Marks?

The cut off marks were negotiated at the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting that was held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Conference Centre, Abuja, which was chaired by JAMB the Registrar, Professor. Ishaq Ojoyede. The meeting featured:

  • Federal Ministry of Education officials
  • Chiefs from Nigerian polytechnics and universities
  • Rectors and Provosts

This session sets the standards for admission to the national level for the school year.

What Does This Mean for 2025 Candidates?

  • If you have scored 150 or more, then you’re qualified to apply for college admission.
  • If you scored between 100-149 If you scored between 100 and 149, you can submit an application to Polytechnics as well as schools of higher education.
  • Candidates who wish to apply for nursing courses require at least 140.

However, each institution could nevertheless impose departmental cut off depending on the number of applicants and available slots.

JAMB confirmed that applicants must be the age of 16 for them to become eligible to gain admission into any Nigerian higher education institution.
