University degree verification should go through the awarding institution’s official records or verification service. You do not need to hand an employer or agent unrestricted access to your student account to begin asking about the process.
Clarify what the receiver needs
Ask whether it requires confirmation of the award, a transcript, attendance dates or a document-authenticity check. These are related but different requests. Obtain the recipient’s official address and case reference.
Then ask the university which service covers that request and who may initiate it. Some processes involve the graduate’s consent or an institutional verification request; follow the actual instructions.
Supply accurate identifiers
Prepare your name as recorded, matriculation number, programme, award year and relevant document number if supplied. Submit them only through an official route and only to the extent required.
If the document contains a discrepancy, report it before verification. Do not edit the PDF to make it match another record.
Track the outcome
- Record the application reference and payment receipt where applicable.
- Keep the university’s acknowledgement.
- Confirm the destination and dispatch method.
- Ask the receiver to acknowledge matching the response to your case.
- Retain the verification history securely.
Use the university website to find contact information. A phone number printed on an unofficial social-media advert is not sufficient evidence of an authorised records service.
Is a scan of my certificate enough?
It may support an application, but a receiver asking for direct verification may need a response from the university itself.
Should I send my student-portal password?
No. Ask the organisation to use the authorised document or verification process. If access delegation is genuinely required by a particular official service, clarify a limited approved method rather than casually sharing your main login.
