Apply for ABSU inter-university and inter-departmental transfers

Abia State University (ABSU) is now accepting applications for inter-university and inter-departmental transfers for the 2024/2025 academic session. This initiative allows students to either change their current degree programmes within ABSU or transfer from other recognized universities into ABSU.

Eligibility Criteria:

For Inter-Departmental (Change of Programme) Transfers:

  • Academic Standing: Students must have completed at least one academic session at ABSU.
  • Entry Requirements: Applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements for the desired new programme.
  • Academic Performance: Students seeking a change due to academic challenges may be considered for less demanding programmes if they have a lower Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
  • Frequency of Change: A change of degree programme is permitted only once during the undergraduate tenure.

For Inter-University Transfers:

  • Accreditation: Applicants must be transferring from universities recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC) or the Federal Ministry of Education.
  • Academic Records: Submission of official transcripts showing results from both the first and second semesters is required.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum CGPA of 3.50, certified by the Registrar of the current institution, is necessary.

  2. Payment of Fees:
    • Applicants are required to pay the prescribed fees associated with the transfer process before their applications can be processed.
  3. Official Approval:
    • Upon approval, students will receive official letters endorsed by the Registrar, confirming the transfer.

Important Considerations:

  • Timely Application: Students are advised to initiate the transfer process promptly to ensure adequate time for processing before the commencement of the academic session.
  • Consultation: It is recommended that students consult with academic advisors or department heads to understand the implications of the transfer on their academic progression.
